Water Spot Remover — Acid-Based Formula

Tesla owners know this one. The Model Y's washer nozzles clog and spray unevenly, hard water does the rest, and you end up with calcium and mineral deposits baked onto glass and paint. Every Tesla forum has the same thread running: how do I get these off without wrecking the finish?

This is a specialist tool, not an everyday cleaner. It's an acid-based formula that dissolves mineral deposits on contact — which is exactly why it works, and exactly why it needs to be used properly.

Is it safe on Tesla and Rivian? Used as directed — small sections, rinsed immediately with cool water, never left to dry on the surface — yes, on both paint and glass. It asks for more care than an everyday cleaner, and the instructions below aren't optional. If you follow them, this is a safe water spot remover for a Tesla Model Y or a Rivian. If you take shortcuts, no acid-based product is.

Read this before you buy it

• This is our only acid-based product. It carries a DANGER signal word and is classified DOT Class 8 Corrosive (UN3264, PG III)
• Wear gloves and eye protection. Keep it off skin
• Never let it dry on a surface. Work small sections, rinse immediately with cool water
• Never apply in direct sun or to a hot panel
• Test an inconspicuous area first, especially over ceramic coatings and on polished or anodized trim

Directions: Wet the surface. Apply with a soft cloth, working small sections. Rinse with cool water immediately — do not let it dry on the surface. Not in direct sunlight. Surface must be cool.

Questions

Is it safe on Tesla's paint?
Used as directed — small sections, rinsed immediately, never dried on — yes. Left to dwell or applied to a hot panel in the sun, no. Tesla clear coat is thin, and an acid product is unforgiving of shortcuts. If you aren't going to follow the directions, don't buy this one.

Can I use it over a ceramic coating?
Test first. Acid-based removers vary in how they interact with coatings, and manufacturers disagree about it. On a coated car we'd try the least aggressive option first and reach for this only if the deposits won't come off any other way.

Why is this the only product you sell with a hazard warning?
Because mineral deposits are the one problem on a car that genuinely needs acid chemistry. Everything else in our range is water-based and low-hazard — we didn't reach for something stronger unless the job required it. It's also why this product isn't in our EV Care Kit.

Will it fix already-etched glass?
If the mineral is sitting on the surface, yes. If hard water has physically etched into the glass, no product removes that — etching is a change to the substrate and needs polishing. Worth knowing before you expect a miracle.
