Rivian R2 Floor Mats — In Development

Sean, founder of Luma Auto, with his Tesla Model Y and Rivian R1S.

We scanned a real, customer-delivered Rivian R2. Custom-fit mats are being tooled from that scan right now.

If you're searching for R2 floor mats and finding nothing, that's because the R2 only started reaching owners in June 2026. Generic mats don't fit an R2 — a floor pan is a compound curve, not a flat panel. Anything sold as "universal" slides, bunches at the pedals, and leaves the footwell edges exposed.

Where we are

In August we put a structured-light scanner into an R2 that belongs to an actual owner — not a press car, not a show floor, not a CAD file traded between suppliers. Three hours of scanning produced a mesh of several million triangles covering the front footwells, the second row and the cargo floor.

That data is now with a tooling engineer, who is cutting a mold specifically for it. Molds take weeks, not days, and we would rather take the time than sell you something that almost fits.

Why the source vehicle matters

Interiors change between an engineering prototype, a show vehicle and the car that actually arrives on a truck. Seat rail positions move. Trim thickness changes. Mats cut from pre-production data fit pre-production cars.

Ours came from a delivered R2 with miles on it. That's the whole reason we paid to scan one instead of buying data.

What they'll be

  • TPE, not PVC — no plasticizers to migrate out, so no off-gassing smell and no going brittle in cold weather. In a silent, sealed EV cabin there's no engine noise or exhaust to mask interior odour, which is exactly why material choice matters more in an EV than it did in a petrol car.
  • Matte finish — not the glossy look that reads as cheap aftermarket
  • Deep tread channels — designed to move water and grit toward the edges rather than hold it under your feet
  • Understated branding — one small debossed mark, no colour, no metal badge

Get told when they're ready

No date promises. Tooling schedules move, and we would rather tell you the truth than a target. Leave your email and you'll hear the moment they exist — and you'll see photographs of the first ones off the mold, whatever they look like.
