Questions
What does “no dwell time” actually mean?
Most ceramic and graphene sprays are formulated to be left on the panel for a period — often two to five minutes — so the chemistry can begin cross-linking before you buff. Miss the window and the product flashes, leaving high spots and streaking that usually need machine polishing to correct. This formulation is built to be buffed immediately, so there's no timer to watch and no penalty for working slowly in the sun.
Is graphene actually better than ceramic?
Not in the way the marketing implies. Graphene sprays, ceramic sprays and most “new molecule” coatings are built on the same underlying organosilane chemistry — silicon-oxygen bonding that forms a thin, hydrophobic layer on the clear coat. The names are largely branding. What varies is the specific tail chemistry, the solids content and how well it's formulated. We publish our SDS so you can see the actual ingredients rather than take our word for it.
What about coatings advertising “10H” or “20H” hardness?
The pencil hardness standard, ASTM D3363, runs from 6B to 9H. 9H is the top of the scale. There is no 10H, and there is certainly no 20H — those numbers aren't measurements, they're marketing. We don't quote a hardness figure because no meaningful one exists for a sprayable coating.
How long does it really last?
The formulation is rated at up to a year. Real durability depends heavily on climate, wash frequency, whether the car is garaged, and how well the paint was decontaminated before application. Anyone quoting a single number without those caveats is guessing. We're running a documented beading test on one panel and publishing the monthly results — including if it falls short.
Do I need to prep the paint first?
Yes, and this matters more than the product. A coating bonds to whatever is on the surface. If that's old wax, iron fallout or road film, it bonds to that instead of your clear coat and fails early. Wash and decontaminate first.
